Steel Framings

Steel Structure Info

Our cold-formed steel systems deliver unmatched strength, durability, and eco-friendly performance from initial design through on-site installation.

What is a Steel Structure?

A steel construction system is a type of building system where the structural elements, serving as carriers for walls and floors, are crafted from galvanized steel using a cold forming method. These construction elements are manufactured in a factory setting using modern machinery and CNC machines under strict control and supervision. Once produced, they are assembled on a protected construction site. This system offers an advantage in terms of sensitivity and precision compared to traditional construction methods. Being a pre-production system, it allows for placing orders for items like doors, windows, and other equipment during the production phase of the projects.

Design and Applications

The designs for steel structures adhere to the permanent structure specifications, similar to those used for reinforced concrete buildings. Calculations are performed based on the required load. Steel structures are significantly less susceptible to earthquake loads compared to concrete structures primarily because they are very lightweight. This inherent lightness substantially increases their resistance to earthquakes when compared to reinforced concrete structures. Steel structures can be implemented in virtually all types of buildings, including housing, schools, hospitals, warehouses, dormitories, and hotels. Their purpose of use is highly varied, and numerous examples of structures built from steel are currently in use.

Key Specifications and Characteristics

Steel structures possess several inherent specifications that contribute to their performance and benefits:
Material Properties
Steel is described as a homogenous, isotropic, and durable material, leading to a construction system with the least potential for human error.
Manufacturing and Assembly
The system facilitates error-free and undamaged production. It allows for sustainable construction management 365 days a year, regardless of weather conditions, and provides for short-term and dry manufacturing processes both at the plant and on site.
Flexibility in Design and Space
The design offers a wide range of material selection possibilities, flexibility, and aesthetic options. A significant advantage is that interiors can be designed without traditional columns or beams, allowing users to utilize a clear, unobstructed space.
Space Efficiency and Lightness
Compared to traditional systems, steel structures have standard wall thicknesses, which saves on exterior wall coverage and offers a 7-10% space saving within the interior. The system is more lightweight than other construction systems.
Integrated Installations
Electrical and mechanical installations are considered during the design phase. Before production begins, the locations for holes in wall studs and floor beams required for installations are determined and these holes are opened during the production process. This eliminates the need for disruptive crushing, pouring, or repair work typically required in conventional systems, thereby protecting both the contractor during construction and the user during occupancy from additional costs.
Building Physics Performance
Steel structures offer the user the possibility of high building physics performance, including factors such as heat, sound, humidity, and sunshine. Gypsum boards and cement-based coatings can be applied to meet the required fire protection conditions. Thermal insulation is designed according to the specific climatic conditions of each region and implemented using appropriate material selection, resulting in high thermal insulation performance. The building elements themselves also provide the necessary sound insulation.

Standards and Quality Assurance

The design and production of steel structures are made to be suitable for all national and international specifications. The quality of steel is controlled and documented at every stage of its production according to international standards. Materials used in the system are readily available under national and international conditions.

North American Specification for Designing Cold-Formed Steel Construction Elements (AISI S2001)
ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads
ASTM Standards for steel coatings and testing
BS and TS EN (Eurocode) standards for cold-formed steel and design

The system is controlled by experienced engineers and architects, while manufacturing is carried out by factory and field-trained workers.
